Nikko is Dr. Colón’s right hand. He is a rescue pup from Texas with a heart of gold and a howl that will steal your soul. He is an expert at sharing his feelings and knowing when the work day is over. While he may briefly join sessions, he's now enjoying a quieter life away from the puparazzi.

Dr. Colón has provided individual therapy services for adults and has worked with diverse populations, in a variety of settings. She has exposure to a range of mental health issues, including helping individuals recover from trauma they experienced across their lifespan and the use of substances as a means of coping. Dr. Colón leans toward a direct therapeutic style that is guided by relational and cognitive-behavioral frameworks. She strives to use her clinical training in a manner that best serves her clients through exploration of experiences, thoughts, and behaviors which interfere with wellness and overall functioning.
Educational Background and Experiences
Dr. Colón completed her BA at Argosy University in Chicago, IL. She obtained her Doctorate in Psychology, with specializations in Traumatic Stress Psychology and Substance Abuse Counseling, at Adler University in Chicago, IL in 2017. Dr. Colón has worked with individuals in a variety of settings which includes community mental health clinics, private practice, a substance abuse facility, state inpatient hospital, prison work release program, a residential facility for individuals with severe mental illness, as well as within the educational system conducting assessments.

Dr. Colón believes it takes a tremendous amount of courage to pursue psychological services and seeks to honor and respect this effort in every encounter. During your work together, her mission is to collaborate as a team to gain a deeper understanding of your current challenges and identify a path toward meaningful change. Her therapeutic style is warm, direct, and strength-based, and she strives to create a supportive environment by incorporating awareness, humor, personal interests, and mindfulness techniques to help clients feel grounded when emotions are heightened. In addition to her assessment and therapeutic work, Dr. Colón has completed both Level 1 and Level 2 EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training and offers EMDR-specific treatment to support individuals in addressing trauma, anxiety, and depressive disorders.

Dr. Colón is a Psychology Resident and is currently being supervised by Dr. Tyler Demers, Psy.D.
